Urea formaldehyde resin is a transparent thermosetting plastic with a history of over 100 years in the production of buttons. Urea buttons are known for their high temperature resistance and hardness, making them more durable than typical resin buttons. In the past, they were commonly used in military uniforms and other applications where button performance was highly demanded, while it is oftenly used in jackets now-a-days.
We succeeded in combining potato starch and urea raw materials to develop a new biodegradable potato starch urea button, which can be completely degraded while maintaining the unique pattern and quality of urea button. According to the test report of international well-known testing organization SGS, our new potato starch urea button can be completely decomposed within one year under composting conditions.
The button will decomposes into pure water, natural gases, and other organic substances. The button is estimated to be completely decomposed in 321 days.
